Is it possible to double barrel a child's surname without consent from the father? I would really love my children to have the same name but also want to preserve dds fathers surname. My ds will have my surname which dp is fine with, I won't be changing my surname when we get married (he will take mine). I know my dds df more than likely won't give consent (although I will discuss it) and dd had asked to change it before (I've never mentioned this to her before) but I just want to know my options and I can't find any clear advice.

If the father has PR then no, you either need his consent or a court order.

Thank you for clearing that up! Will speak to her father then. Would rather not go through court if unnecessary
