Parental abandonment

Does the UK have any laws on Parental Abandonment? I know the US they have them and no contact/payments means you can strip one of the parents of their PR. Just wondered if the UK had anything like it?

It's very difficult to remove PR. It is also quite hard to add PR if existing family with PR object. However being defined as a parent, when it comes to education (1996 act), any tom, dick or harry can be involved as the definition of parent is the widest you could ever think possible.
