Dispute with US company

I know this is a bit of a long-shot, but I am in the throes of a dispute with a company in the US and we've reached a stalemate. In the UK, I would be checking whether there was a regulating body with a formal complaints procedure, but I'm a bit stumped as to what to do next with a US company. They don't seem to be regulated by any specific body or members of any trade association.

The sums involved aren't huge (around £750), but they have basically failed to provide a service (albeit one without guaranteed results) and are refusing to even discuss a compromise or partial refund which I am finding increasingly infuriating! Any ideas on how to proceed would be much appreciated.

Do you have a contract? What jurisdiction is referred to?
