Child arrangements order

I am currently stopping the dc 6 and 9 from seeing their dad after they told me he had lost his temper and kicked 6yr old ds, resulting in him falling down the stairs. Ds was uninjured, however I have reported to SS. They aren't even doing an assessment as they are satisfied because I've stopped contact that that is sufficient safeguarding.
Ex is emotionally abusive. The dc can't mention my bf at all even though we met after the divorce as he tells them he will smash his face in if he ever sees them.
Ex is now wanting to talk things out, which I have refused as he will minimise as usual.
I don't want them to go at all. DD doesn't want to anyway.
I've read I will need mediation, but that a court is unlikely to refuse him access.
I don't know what to reasonably ask the court to enforce that would be passed and also be acceptable to me.
Does anyone have any advice?

No, we had come to an arrangement ourselves. I was too intimidated by him at the time and since to sort it. I need to, I know.

You don't have to agree anything, it is up to him to take it to court, so unless he starts harassing you, or trying to take them from school, you can sit tight. No need to go to mediation either, if you explain the situation to a mediator they will agree your case isn't suitable. Unless they are grossly incompetent and unprofessional, which a few are.

I would however suggest that you report his assault on your son to the police.

I need an order to stop him just picking up the kids from school though.
SS said because there were no injuries on my son that they wouldn't be involving the police.
