Holiday Compensation

Has anyone used one of those firms that offer a no win no fee for compensation for suspected food poisoning whilst on holiday and, if so, who would you recommend? I often hear them advertised on the radio.

Is it worth pursuing? It's not unusual to have some sickness on holiday when you're eating different food in hot temperatures.

As a lawyer and an avid traveller who got violently ill in Mexico last year I assume its a total scam!

Simpson Millar.

Thanks Lady.

I would not be pursuing if it was just a mild case of sickness but it was 3 out of four of our party extremely ill, having to call out the hotel's Doctor and losing many days of our holiday. Having to cancel expensive excursions, etc plus ongoing health problems on our return.

I don't understand this form of compensation hunting. How does the person who was ill or claim company/lawyer prove the source of the illness. Yes, it could clear,y be food poisoning but it won't prove where they got it from surely?

Nicknacky, I asked for a recommendation not your opinion.

Pilates, you misunderstand I'm not having a go I just don't understand the mechanics of a claim such as this.

I suspect there are bound to be other travellers in the same hotel who got similarly ill, and in many areas it may be possible to check records of hygiene inspections etc.

No win, no fee you haven't got much to lose, but please go through their contract carefully to check if there are any things you have to pay yourself, such as disbursement a of counsels fees, and how much of a cut they are taking from your damages if that is how they are getting paid.
