I see there is a similar thread. My dad died & we are trying to sort out his affairs. He left no will. There was a partner of sorts who had been a carer long term. He left no will but leaves 4 DC from a previous marriage.
She is not co operative so we are trying to stumble through. The bank has advised to get a probate solicitor. We suspect there are a variety of accounts etc. They never married & separate rooms etc although in the same home. We want this to be as simple as possible. Could anyone advise on what the solicitor does or possibly how it's split. He had no property. Savings etc under 325k. How can we find out where his accounts etc are?
Thanks for any help.
