Probate Values?

I have a copy of a will and probate, including the gross and net figures.

Is there any way to find out how this amount was calculated? I suppose what I am asking is if I can find out how much certain property was valued at?

We started to buy a house in April this year. Sadly the husband died but the deeds of the house are solely in his name. The Will I am told is straight forward and his estate is passed onto his wife. We have now been waiting 17 weeks for probate to be granted. Probate was applied by their Solicitor. Is there anything that can be done to find out how much longer it's going to take. The Solicitor has I believe expedited it when he sent it in.
