Child maintenance in a divorce

Hi, I have three children aged 5,4 and 1 and am currently going through a divorce. I have appointed a solicitor however in the meantime my ex wants to know what I want for maintenance. He is a high earner in excess of 160k a year. The kids cost £1550 just for schools and day care and I left the marital home and am renting. I had asked for £2200 per month and he is now telling me no court in the land would award me this. I was wondering if anyone has had the same experience and would be able to advise me on what is fair. I have my own business but it's new and I can only work three days a week in it, due to the children.

According to the govs cm calculator, he should be giving you a minimum of nearly £1930 a month anyway... I'd call his bluff and tell him you'll see him in court then.
