Recommendation Pls for Forensic Accountant

Hi everyone - can anyone recommend (a brilliant) forensic accountant. I'm in the middle defending a hideous civil claim against me started by someone who has a malicious grudge against me.
Anyway I won't bore you with all the details and also I'm nervous about saying too much (have name changed) but I need a really decent forensic accountant.
The one suggested by solicitor is £400 plus an hour - which sounds so high to me but that may well be the going rate and I just need to accept it (?).
Would need to be London / Hampshire or Surrey based. Thank you !

Forensic accountants are very specialised and therefore expensive. I wouldn't think £400ph is massively out of kilter.
I am a Chartered Accountant and David Winch below is very well thought of. He is not in London but that wouldn't actually matter. Worth a phone call anyway. He deals with criminal and proceeds of crime matters so may not be for you but could point you somewhere else.

5 or so years back I used John Green of the Pierce Group in Blackburn: pierce.co.uk. Found his report excellent. Don't know what he charges these days.

Thank you ! Will look him up.
(I don't know if this is common practice but solicitor won't actually recommend someone - I think it's because he doesn't want to be blamed if the outcome isn't positive. I think I was a bit naive thinking that he would just suggest someone .)

Meant to add - still keen to hear of any names in London / South East as may need to attend court in London so would help keep costs down for that. Thanks

I am a solicitor and I too think it is odd that your lawyer is unable to make a recommendation. It would suggest to me that perhaps your solicitor may not have the necessary expertise for this type of case.
