Pleading guilty Scottish law

A quick question pleaseFlowers

If someone is pleading guilty to a crime in Scotland, would they still need to do an ID test? There is some doubt over whether the person involved has pleaded guilty like he said, and I know nothing about Scottish law. I know one out of two picked him out from the video id though.

I'm no expert, but if he has truly pleaded guilty, the only thing left is a plea in mitigation; yes, I did beat crap out of Joe Bloggs but it was because he raped my 5yo, for (a hopefully exaggerated) example.
