Can anyone help with car insurance question?

Briefly:
Me: driving for 18 years with no claims.
January: my partner the second named person on insurance has an accident and we claim.
Last week: Partner of 14 years leaves me.
Today: I go renew the car insurance and realise I've made a claim in the last year.

Can anything be done?

No, just take him off as second driver. Have you not got protected no claims?

The policy was in your name so the claim is registered to that as you made the claim even though he was driving. Remove him as driver but declare the claim. If you have any no claim protection it may not make much difference to the premium. Worth doing a comparison website.

I've declared the claim and I did have no claims protection. I've tried quotes for both just me and me and him and it makes no difference whether he's on or not.
