Is it possible to find out whether someone has left you something in a will, if you're not in contact with the executor?

All wills must be registered at the Probate Registry. They are a public document. Contact your local probate reg and they will take you through the information you need to provide them with.

Note however that the will only gets registered after death when the executors apply for probate. In some situations they don't need probate and therefore do not apply for it.

Any will that has gone to probate is a public document. You can purchase a copy online for £10. Just Google "Find a will". However as has been said above if there was no need for probate then the will remains private and you can only see a copy by approaching the Executors.
