Family mediation

Request on behalf of a friend. He and his partner have recently split up, they have a 3 year old son, ex partner is making life very difficult about allowing him to see his DS. He is on a very low income and can't afford solicitors, and would far rather sort this out as amicably and constructively as possible. Is there anything like a state or charity funded mediation service available that they can access? If it's relevant, it should ideally be in the London/South west area.

Legal Aid is still available for mediation, if he qualifies on financial grounds.

Thanks all. He is worried about going to solicitors as the mother may perceive this as bullying, Is there an alternative?
