Kitchen company advice

Hope someone can help, will try and be concise and not drip feed .
Agreed with a kitchen company for them to manage our kitchen/ diner build and fit.
They were to organise everything from planning to completion.
Two weeks after the job started, walls down sheeting done, 1 St fix electric and plumbing in they casually announce that the layout we sign up for was not deliverable due to dimensions being incorrectly measured.
They had redesigned 7 units, changing drawers to cupboards ect and they had ordered the kitchen.
We have paid they 4/5 upfront.
We are considering not paying the final instalment.
Where do we stand?
I am worried if we let them put in their replacement we won't have a leg to stand on.
We are in Scotland.
Any advice gratefully received.

Complain to the company, then go to Trading Standards. Work out what you think is a realistic discount for the poor service/breach of contract and ask for that. How did you pay for it? Is any of it on finance or credit card? You could possibly appeal to the Financial Ombudsman Service if that's the case, for breach of contract.

I know there is a furniture ombudsman too but I haven't used that service so I don't know much about it.

Thanks for your reply, I paid the some of the deposit on credit card so may well go down that route.
I am nervous of starting to talk about money in case they down tools.
We are thinking about letting them finish, repeating regularly that we are unhappy about the changes then not paying the last instalment.
