Police related question

I plucked up the courage and phoned the police about oh's domestic violence a few months ago. Then I reported another incident to the police and they responded really fast as our address is flagged now.

Oh is getting interviewed about it tmrw at the police station and he spoke to a solicitor about an incident a year ago when I hit him. He's threatening me that when he's interviewed he'll make a counter charge against me.
I'm just wondering what a solicitor would have advised him and dare I say why. He would have said 'I've been arrested twice for domestic violence and now I want the police to arrest my wife' and the solicitor would have been 'great - I'll help you do that'

Obviously when I hit him I'd been extremely provoked over a long period and it wasn't sore. When he was violent to me it didn't leave marks but was aggressive.

From a technical point of view, a common assault is statute barred after 6 months, so could not be progressed at this stage if he makes a complaint.

I wouldn't be drawn into making any sort of admission to assaulting him.

Great thanks - I thought the police would dismiss it as if he was bothered about it he should have reported it at the time, not waited until he is arrested for violence to report it.

I'm just surprised if a solicitor was advising him he should tell the police. Apparently the solicitor told him I should come into the police station with him tomorrow in case the police want to investigate that. I can't believe the solicitor will have said that.

Hi OP,yes you should deny it!And can I ask how do you know all this?Durely you aren't still in contact with this person who was violent to you?If you are you need to stop contact immediately.Ckearly he is trying to manipulate and scare you with this nonsense about a counter claim,you should not be engaging with him in any way.

Why are you still speaking to him?

If the police want to discuss anything with you (they won't, it's statute barred) it is for them to contact you and for you to obtain your own advice.

Yes I thought the police would contact separately if they wanted to speak with me, I just didn't get how he came off the phone to his solicitor, then said that to me straight away, it was like his solicitor had recommended that was what we should do.

Yes - I am still speaking to him, we are still married and living together. He is the type that refuses divorce and refuses to move out.

I first phoned the police in January, then got referred to womens aid, then got a free solicitor's appointment through womens aid, then got a follow up appointment with a solicitor, now the solicitor has written a letter asking for divorce, and for him to move out.

That has all taken 3 unbearably long months. And he hasn't even received the solicitors letter yet, or know that I am about to ask for divorce.

Anyway, I'm not sure what happened at the police station, he was out within an hour.
