I work for a franchise, I believe the manager co owns it with the owner of the parent company. We were told yesterday (via TEXT) that the franchise owner/manager has quit and will not be coming back, that we are now employed by the director of the parent company and to direct all queries to them.
We have tried to contact the owner of the company but they're not answering calls or emails. We are carrying on here as normal but are concerned about who is liable to pay us. I actually don't even know where to start, other than looking for new jobs. Should we continue the running of the premises as normal? Is it possible they will each say the other is liable for wages and leave us in the middle?
