have had a notice of enforcement agent visit posted through my door for the previous tenant. have googled the company and it seems legit. its for a debt to london borough of ealing for council tax for nearly 8 grand. it says they are coming back tomorrow to remove goods even if no one is home. not sure what to do

Nothing. It's not for you, they can't do anything.

Show them your ID through a window and your tenancy agreement if you have it and they will go away

Is there any reference to a court order , can you call the court if so . They cannot enforce someone's debt on you but there could be a genuine mistake if names are similar. Have there been previous letters addressed to this person. Do you have a forwarding address or agent who can help them trace the right person ?

all sorted. have called them. they will not be visiting again. the only confusing thing is, the letter says its for nearly 10 grand, but the woman on the phone reckons its only £792.
