Ex is still returning to the family home 2-days a week. I suspect he may be intercepting my post and keeping some of it. Is he commiting a crime??
Thanks

Yes. It's a criminal offence to intercept mail. Have you not changed the locks?

www.adviceguide.org.uk/nireland/consumer_ni/consumer_post_e/consumer_problems_with_post_e/consumer_problems_with_post_delivery_e/your_post_is_being_opened_or_tampered_with_by_someone_else.htm

"Interception of communications means someone who is not the intended recipient accessing the content of mail, a telephone call or email. Examples include a landlord opening a tenant’s post or a private investigator using a bugging device to listen in to someone’s phone calls.

Most of the time it is against the law to intercept other people’s communications in this way without their consent. However, there are some instances where it is allowed."

I've not changed the locks as he hasn't physically left (He works away 5-days a week) and I'm told he has a legal right to be there so long as he's on the mortgage. Scary stuff really as he's an aggressive violent man, but so far since the split he's managed to keep his fists off me. We're about to start mediation, so hopefully a way forward will be agreed soon.
I'm expecting an important letter through the post, but its overdue and I suspect he's taken it.
Thanks for the link. I'll read that now.

You can ask the sorting office to hold your mail for you to collect it from them, could that be an option.
