If you havent got a criminal record but you have been struck off a register e.g. as a dentist, would it show up on a dbs check? I have a friend who thinks she cant adopt because of some professional mistakes she made years ago, but she's too scared to find out one way or another.

If she wants to adopt, she will need to be transparent about everything anyway, regardless of the DBS check. Maybe post on the adoption board, but I think she'd need to tell them about it herself.

That's not to say it would necessarily go against her, of course.

Its not just the adoption itself I believe, from what shes said, that they like you to have worked with children in some capacity e.g, Brownies before adoption and shes concerned she woukdnt even be able to get past that stage

No, being struck off as a dentist would not show on a DBS check. An enhanced check shows convictions, cautions, reprimands, warnings and any non-conviction information held by the police that they consider relevant. The highest level of check also ensures that the individual is not barred from working with children or vulnerable adults.

Thank you
