Deed poll

Hello,

I have a court order allowing me to change my DDs name, and I'm just trying to do that.

However, I'm a bit confused as to whether I actually need to do it by Deed poll, or if I can just do a Statutory Declaration, take the court order to the Solicitor and get them to sign it.

I really need to change dds surname on her passport, and do not want to get it sent back again.

Have seen numerous companies that do it, at various prices, but having looked into it, it turns out they are worthless and I could do the same on a free site!

I also looked on the Government website, where there are a billion forms, involves it being put in the Gazette and a fee of £102!

Having spent over £300 to get the bloody order,I don't want to pay out another £100.

Can anyone please advise me? UK Deed poll want £33 to do it, and say theirs is accepted everywhere?

Thanks

Well, I can't advise you anything regarding the statutory declaration but if you want to cut the expenses, I found that UK Deed Poll Office are offering the service a bit cheaper Confused I can feel your pain babe. You have already spent a lot of money for the court order, I hope thit helps you :)

(They also say that they are accepted everywhere. Why not just phone them and ask?)

It's all a rip off. Ignore this nonsense about a deed poll and search instead for one of the numerous threads about change of name deed. The link given above appears to be for a change of name deed anyway and not a deed poll (as the name suggests).
You can gat a draft change of name deed done online for free if you take a few minutes to search.
