This is confusing so will try and explain the best I can.
I bought 2 items from an online clothing company and decided to return both. Packaged them up using a returns label I found in the parcel and took them to my local collect plus store.
They looked at the parcel and said it was pre-paid so no payment was due.
A few days later the clothing company contacted me to say the parcel has arrived but it's been slit open (an actual cut and not a rip) and one of the items is missing, assumed stolen. They asked me to
claim from collect plus for the missing item and refunded the one that arrived.
Contacting collect plus got me nowhere, as I didn't pay for the postage the contact is not with me and so I cannot claim. Much going back and forth with the clothing company and it turns out they didn't pay for the postage either! The returns label that I attached to the parcel was not prepaid as the collect plus store told me and so it appears the postage was never paid for.
However the parcel was actually delivered, although with a missing item, surely if postage was not paid it should not have been delivered or charged for on delivery?
The problem I am having now is that as neither myself or the company paid for the postage none of us are able to make a claim with collect plus for the stolen item and I am out of pocket by quite a lot.
Any ideas where I can go with this next to get my money back and who is reposibile for the cost of the stolen item?
