Landlord and Tenant upgrade rights Northern Ireland ?

Hi everyone

Does any know what the procedure would be with replacing very old appliances in a rented property? We haven't moved in yet but we've had a look around, The landlord modernised the bathroom and living room but kitchen/bedrooms/doors could use an upgrade that we would like to pay out of our own pocket.

Would we be allowed to get new bedroom/bathroom/living room doors installed? Our bedroom has a built in wardrobe but the doors are older and we wanted them to match our colour scheme, the other doors are just in need of an upgrade.

We also have a very old cooker that we'd love to replace and the old washing machine with our washer/dryer combo.

Can we ask the landlord to move the old appliances out? These new appliances are our's and bought out of our own money, if/when we move does the landlord keep them? Do we have a legal obligation to store old appliances if we want new ones?

I cant answer for laws in Northern Ireland as I have never rented there but in england and wales you could do that but landlord does not have to agree (and if he does agree to move them they coud claim the costs of removal and storge and for refitting after you leave if you are willing to fork out even more)

As my friend was stung with this but only wanted to replace fridge / oven and was stuck with the bill for storge / removal and refitting she contested it and was taken to court and lost (3 years of storge fees was well in excess of her deposit which she also forfieted when she refused to pay up for said charges)

The appliances would stay as your property and you could remove them when you leave but you could potentally be hit by said fees.

And you dont have to store them at the property but they must be kept somewhere safe and fully working if you go down the route and refuse to pay the landlord for storge (but the landlord can legally refuse you request to so be careful before you make purcheses)
