Deed of trust

Is it possible for me to obtain a copy of a Deed of Trust without paying a solicitor?

My original solicitor ceased trading and I am not able to get my file which contains this document. I went to see a new solicitor who needs to see the Deed of Trust before she can advise me.

Can I contact the other parties solicitor direct and ask for another copy, as they did send one previously? Or will I have to pay for that?

Telephone and ask them. Or ask your current solicitor to ask them for it

Sounds simple when you put it like that! Blush I am stupidly intimidated by legal stuff.

I haven't engaged a new solicitor yet, she gave me a free half hour and said she needs the deed before she can advise me further.

She suggested if I get the document I can try to get legal expenses through my insurance. I'm trying desperately to cut costs.
