Wills - guardianship if DC...

We've an appointment this afternoon to work out our wills. I know the question of who has the DC will come up but I don't have an answer. There are no relatives we feel would be able to look after them, or would want to.

How bad is it not to name anyone? Could the family still look after them? Could we just say we'd like them to stay with family and together if possible? That way if, in a few years, an uncle felt able to take them he could step up?

I know I can ask the solicitor this, but would like to work out what our options are first...

I think you can name a small number of people who could then decide between themselves at the time if the need arose?
