In what circumstances can PR be revoked?

Basically what the subject says really. If a parent refuses to accept responsibilty for their child, refuses contact when a court order is made, refuse to help financially, why should that person have PR?

Because they are always the parent!

I just think its a ridiculous law. I get they will always be their parent. But what gives them the right say, to take them out of school when it suits, despite the fact they havent been in their lives for god knows how long?

PR doesn't give a parent the right to take a child out of school when it suits them, it just gives them the right to have a say in the important decisions, such as where the child goes to school and whether to have vaccinations etc. I'm the RP and I have no right to take my child out of school. If he has a medical appointment, I have to ask permission from the school. I can't just turn up and take him.

If a NRP is refusing to pay maintenance the CSA should be involved. They can walk away from their child, but they shouldn't be allowed to walk away from the financial obligation.

Ive been told if I put my ex down as the parent at school, they cannot stop him from collecting the children, even if a contact order is in place.

That's correct, but your ex isn't likely to carry out the threat. IF he did you can ask the police to check they are safe and apply to court as an emergency if necessary to have them them returned. ALso if there is evidence that the children are being harmed or at risk from harm because of the distress of him collecting them the court could also impose a Prohibited Steps Order to prevent him doing from doing it. Then the school would call the police if he tried to collect them.

YOu are entitled to your opinion of course, but we all have to work within the framework of the law as it exists and PR is very rarely revoked. However PR can be regulated in other ways as above.
