I divorced nearly 2 years ago, from an emotionally abusive man (although not reported) we had 2 Ds's together now aged 6 & 7.
Due to go on holiday on the 22nd of this month to France, now ex won't give me the boys passports as I do not want to change my name from the boys surname (which is the same as his but a common name) he paid for and applied to UK Deed Poll and handed me the forms for me to return to my maiden name, which I would never do due to a difficult childhood.
I applied myself to the court last week for a specific issue order and received a letter today with a date to attend court next Friday.
It says:
^The District Judge has directed that:
The matter be referred to an appointment at which a CAFCASS practitioner will be available to discuss this matter with the parties and the Judge. Copies of the application form and the acknowledgement form be sent to CAFCASS. CAFCASS carry out background checks relevant to the safety of the children.^
What does this mean? What should I expect to occur at this? Any advice that can help me during this meeting? All I want is the boys passports without any restrictions or limitations (such as him refusing to let them be taken out of the country which he has threatened)
