Ex business partner refusing to pay money owing

I had a business deal with ex friend. He wanted me out so agreed to pay back the 6k i had put in to get business to where it was. He had someone else lined up.
We went to solicitor, he signed necessary paperwork , which included paying back money etc.
He now says slight spelling mistake on one of names so document he signed not valid.
Is this correct? He says 2 solicitors will back him up if i go to court to get money!
Thanks

Tell him de minimis curat lex (the law does not concern itself with trifles)

The courts would not rule the agreement invalid because of a small spelling mistake as long as the intention of the agreement was clear.

Tell him to fuck off and get his wallet out.

PRH47bridge may have said it in more legally acceptable terms. Grin chancing bastard!! Don't believe his obvious attempts to deceive you!

Brilliant response prh47bridge. I haven't heard that in years but it did make me Grin.

The reason I haven't heard it in years is because it is a fundamental concept and even a law student would be aware of it.

If he has actually managed to find two solicitors to support him then your reply ought to contain some reference to him claiming his legitimate money owing losses, as a result of your recovery action, against them.

Head over to money claim to get the ball rolling.

He is a chancer, if he had 2 solicitors on his side then he should have got one of them to write a half decent letter to me about it all. I know he is hoping I will just go away.
He had said he would give me 10 percent but now he claims that may not be possible . I am going to prepare for a long battle.
Thank you
