Hi,
My DP and I are currently in the process of setting up our first mortgage. The mortgage broker has been in touch to tell us that DP passport is insufficient evidence and we need a letter from Home Office about his indefinite leave to remain, which apparently we got when we got his passport, which I think has gone missing! I have spoken to Home Office twice.
First time spoke to a lovely man who told me that I need to speak to UKBA and gave me the number. DP phoned and was told that they don't do that.
So I called HO again and spoke to a rather brusque unpleasant woman who pretty much told me 'tough, if they don't do it, we don't do it either, there is nothing you can do'
So my questions are:
how the hell are we going to go forward with the mortgage if we don't have the document and cant get a copy of it? what will the mortgage provider do, is there anyway it can go ahead without this document? etc......
I thought things were going so well and have been waiting for a banana skin to come along. Looks like this is a whopper!
