Warranty - Where Do I Stand?

Hi all,

Basically I bought a refurbished Dell computer from ebay, with a years warranty. I then transferred the ownership and warranty into my name online.

Dell have sent a tech out twice to attempt to repair the computer, however the problem is still unresolved. Upon ringing them again I was basically told that they were out of ideas and they'd replace the system. The tech I was speaking to went to check with his manager, came back and told me that because it was a refurbishment I should contact the seller I bought it from and get a refund from them.

Surely this cannot be correct? My warranty exists with Dell, and they have sold the product as fit for purpose. Obviously it is extremely unlikely that the seller will consider refunding me - and I said as much to the tech, who agreed.

Does anyone have any idea as to where I stand? I am in the process of writing to them, and want to have my facts straight.

Confused, was Dell the e-bay seller. Is the warranty actually transferrable, it may only apply to first owner ? How old is the pc ?

Unless you paid Dell for the warranty you have no rights against them. Your rights are against the seller, not the manufacturer.
