I received a letter from council tax revenues , it claims my ex partner obtained parking permits using my address. We were not living together on the dates the claim was made. They now want to investigate if I was a single parent at the time. Were dealing with 6 years ago ?? I'm in shock and totally worried?? I have 3 boys one who has a disability and I'm unemployed as I am my sons full time carer.
What's the procedure will I need legal advice.
Many thanks for any input.

i would write to the council explaining that he was not living there since 'such a date' (or near enough) and that any claims he made have been made fraudulently. The onus is then on him to prove he was living there and therefore eligible to apply for the permits. you have nothing to worry about unless he provides bills/CT statements etc with his name on them for those periods he claimed for.
