Name change DURING divorce

Hi everyone, I've just filed for divorce. I want to go back to using my maiden name and I think the divorce is going to take a while :(
I know I can change my name now by deed poll but does anyone know how this will affect the divorce proceedings/papers? I don't want to hold things up!

I think you just change it then send a copy to your solicitor and she'll forward it on and change things to the new name

Yep that's what I did - just gave my deed poll that I got from a free website to my solicitor. She pulled a face and said the court probably wouldn't accept one that didn't have an official stamp (there's no such thing as an official deed poll) but it was accepted fine, and by the bank, the passport office, the registrar when I have notice to get re-married... :)

Hi, I'm doing a DIY divorce. Would love a solicitor in this but funds won't allow it.

Just send a copy to the court then, with a letter with your case number explaining the situation.

A friend did this and her absolute came through in her married name anyway. Mine came through as "No More Tether (formerly No More Rope). It hasn't made a difference to proceedings.

Thanks! Only posted the papers a few days ago (wish I'd done the name change first now) so will wait for my case number and then do it :)
