Helping my sister

Hi, I've recently registered but a previous member/stalker.

My lovely BIL sadly died a month ago. I am trying to help my sister but we have only just been able to think about the money side of things. She has received a chq for his last months salary but it is payable to 'the estate of BIL'. Can she just pay this into their joint account?

Thank you

Not sure cos I have only ever been executors for my parents.

My dad died first and myself and my brother were named as executors n his will, with everything going to my mum. They had a joint account but my dad also had a savings account in his own name, whilst we were sorting out probate we spoke to the bank first and had the savings account changed into our names (just needed a copy of the death certificate, the will and our own ID to do this) so we could pay in any money received. Once we had probate we just closed the account and gave it all to my mum.

Did he leave a will? If so, who are the executors and who are the beneficiaries?
