Divorce cost question

My STBXH petitioned me for divorce citing unreasonable behaviour.
I sent back the statements saying I disagreed with things he had said but would not defend the divorce.
I also said I was not prepared to pay all the court costs bit would pay half.
I sent it back the middle of march, within the 7 working days it stipulated.
My STBXH verbally agreed to split the costs 50/50 (minimal costs, no solicitors involved, no property to split, but 1 child involved that so far, my STBXH has had minimal contact with purely by his own choice).
What happens now please? And how soon is it likely to go through?

He can apply for Decree Nisi or if he is delaying, you can apply after 4 months.

Sorry, wrote this after a night shift!!
What I meant to ask was this:
If I say I won't pay the while cost, will I have to go to court to explain why?
