FEES FOR TRANSFER OF EQUITY

Hi there. Santander is using Enact Conveyancing to conveyance my remortgage.

At the same time, I need a transfer of equity to remove my STBXH's name from the deeds of the house.

Enact have quoted me £245+VAT to do this and also say Land Registry fees are £190+VAT.

Does this sound reasonable or should I get quotes elsewhere?

Many thanks

Definitely NOT reasonable - it's a simple job, but they often don't seem to want the work! Try a local solicitor or conveyancer and make sure the price includes the Land registry fee, which ought to be less than £190 (no Vat) but depends on the value of the transaction. Good luck!

Thanks Nappaholic. I'll have a ring round locally. I guess that's how they make their money, on the "extra" services required.

I think you're right - that's what happens when the core service is cut to the bone!
