Can I sue my abuser/rapist?

I have been through the criminal court and he was found guilty on some charges.

Someone mentioned to me that by using the court transcripts I can sue him in civil court and make him liable as well as pay compensation.

However I cannot remember who said it to me as it was a highly emotional time. So I was wondering if anyone on here has heard of such a process, either through their work or through personal experiences.

Any advice/guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Are you not claiming criminal injuries compensation?

Going through the civil courts can be a lengthy process but you are automatically entitled to the above

I have put in a claim for criminal injuries compensation. I was also interested in the fact he becomes liable forever.

Thank you babybarrister I will give him a call.
