Driving license panic

My driving license expires on monday.
If I apply online today it takes a week for a new one to arrive.
Will I still be able to drive after my old ones expires as I will have applied for a new one before it expired iyswim?

So long as it is just a renewal then you can drive whilst you are waiting for your replacement.

Is that the same if I apply at the post office tomorrow?
I've just discovered that I can't renew it online as my passport isn't a bio metric one.

Panic over!
Just spoke to a lady at the DVLA and she said that as long as I renew at the post office tomorrow I will be ok to drive until my new license arrives. She said I should keep my receipt from the post office so if I do have to produce my licence for any reason between my old one expiring and my new one arriving I have proof that I've renewed within time.
