Briefly, I have continuous employment from 2001. I switched to part time in 2005 after my first child. I've been working 2 days a week. I went on maternity leave last year and when I returned, I've not really been given much work to do.
I was asked to sign a job description last week which was a generic one for the dept. I have never really done the generic role which is accounts based, but have assisted and done parts of it. I signed it and now regret doing it as it can be proven that I can't fulfil all the specific role on a part time basis.
I was told that today and was given the choice of increasing my days to pretty much full time (I don't want to) or they would try to find something else that fits my contracted hrs by the end of the week, which of course is very unlikely.
I'm due to have another meeting next week which I'm sure they'll tell me that they can't find me another role. The only thing I've been told is that hr will become involved.
I don't mind redundancy as I have been considering something else anyway and this will take the decision out of my hands, but I don't want to get shafted. I feel that signing that document has put me at a disadvantage. Has it?
I'm not even sure what my rights are here.
Sorry this is long. I hope there's someone who can give some advice!
