Hi,

Was driving home ans saw a police speed radar and naturally slowed down as you do. I checked my speed and was under 40 but was in a 30.

I was pulled over, i asked if i was going to fast and was told i was doing 54! My jaw dropped a bit as i knew it wasnt possible. Bet they hear that one all the time.

I politely questioned how far away was i caught to which he responded 200yards, i said although i fully admitted going to fast hand on heart it wasnt that fast. He looked at the radar and said actually your right, its wrong ( taken from wrong distance therefore incorrect) and told me to be on my way but to mind my speed.

The question is, he made no suggestion of a penalty/summons and didnt take any details from me. Although must of had my reg number. Any ideas if i can be penalised etc considering the conversation?

Dont flame me, i dont normally top the speed limit and am apologetic. But, im going through a hard time as my husband of 15 years gave me a 4 word christmas present on christmas morning and im devestated. Thats a whole different story but hasnt clouded what happened.

Sounds like you've got away with this as the camera wasn't working correctly. You should be absolutely ashamed of yourself though. At the poin you started to slow you must have been doing over 40 in a 30. I don't care how upset you are there is never, ever any excuse for that. If you hit somebody you will kill them. Get a grip on yourself and don't get back in your car until you are sure you will not be driving at excess speed.
