Dm receiving pizzas she didn't order - harassment?

MunchMunch · 21/11/2013 10:20

Dm has received a pizza delivery 3 times in the last week that she didn't order. After the second delivery she phoned the pizza company and the told he to choose a password so she wouldn't get anymore deliveries that she didn't order...until last night, same company and his bag was full of food. She didn't accept the order.

We have a feeling it is sil doing this as sil has been known to do this to her side of the family (and worse) and has made malicious accusations to the DWP regarding my benefits (unfortunately for her it back fired and we found out that we weren't claiming everything we were entitled to!)

We have confronted my db and told him to tell her to stop, of course he is denying it as sil is whiter than white and she wouldn't do that kind of thing!! Hmm short memory. She has also denyed it and then said she will get the police involved if these accusations continue even though we have only confronted db once and we stay out of her life as she is toxic. She likes to play the victim but the amount of stuff she has done to her family and our side we just don't believe it and would put our lives on it being her. Dm is disabled and doesn't see anyone else who has a "motive"

The first pizza happened after dm had a bit of a moan at db about something trivial.

I can't believe that I'm writing this post as the whole situation is absolutely fucking pathetic but I would be very grateful for any advice on whether this is harassment from sil.

Sorry for the long post and if you've got this far thank you for reading.

Any help would be appreciated.

My goodness, that sounds mad! I take it the delivery man is wanting payment on delivery? Else I'd be tempted to tell your mum to accept and enjoy them!
Would it be possible to ask the pizza company to black list her address so no orders can be made for delivery there?
Also if it is genuinely causing or mum concern she has every right to notify the police. Using the local number so they can keep a record of every time it happens, could be they could ask the pizza company to use 1471 or a similar service to obtain the caller's number.
I hope you get it sorted.

FesterAddams · 22/11/2013 00:06

Ask the pizza company to mark your address as one that requires deliveries to be pre-paid or as otherwise blacklisted - I'm sure that they'll have some system for dealing with "problematic" households.

The behaviour might well constitute harassment since it's repeated, but I don't see any reasonable way to demonstrate your SIL's involvement, and I doubt that the police would be interested.

On the wider point of what to do about SIL, I don't have any concrete advice. But obviously keep copies of any communication with her.

MunchMunch · 22/11/2013 14:33

Thanks for the advice, we went to all the pizza places on the same road and told them to block her address.

I will be keeping a copy of her text messages and any other communication from her. I have a hunch that in a few weeks/months when things have calmed down I will be on the receiving end of something because that's the way she rolls. Just wish we could prove it was her, it's so frustrating.

harrassment by pizza - whatever next! Pity they aren't prepaid...

ModreB · 23/11/2013 14:55

If they are ordered by phone, did the pizza place not get the phone number of who ordered? Just a thought.

DoubleLifeIsALifeOfSorts · 23/11/2013 15:02

Wow, what a bizarre thing to do! Block the address and ask the pizza places to record the phone number of anyone who tries to order?

Damnautocorrect · 23/11/2013 15:03

Is your sil 12?!?!?!? She sounds a treat!!

MunchMunch · 24/11/2013 14:13

Haha no sil is a lot older than 12! Add another 22 years on. So she really should no better.

I wish the pizzas were prepaid but sadly they aren't as she definitely wouldn't be giving us freebies. Funnily enough there hasn't been anymore but I have a feeling she will make a big show to db of not being near her phone all night and dm will get one but I can imagine her ordering early from her work saying she doesn't get home until late so phoning it in early to be delivered just after she gets home.

The pizza shop has said that they take calls from withheld numbers so couldn't/wouldnt give us any info. Manager hasn't called back even though his staff said they would ask him to call dm. If it wasn't for dm being woken up and not being able to get back to sleep we would just say its his own fault for delivering when they have been warned.

Hopefully that's it now and we can resume a quiet life without sil and her drama llama ways.
