Advice for DSS and his child

Hi

After a bit of advice. My step son was sleeping with a girl (both younger than 18 and clearly not much common sense between them) and so was another boy. Girl gets pregnant - openly admits that she does not know which would be father.

Paternity tests carried out and it is DSS son. He wants to support and have contact. His name is not on Birth Certificate and he does not have PR. Girl is refusing contact.

DSS has said that he has been told there is nothing he can do to get name on BC or get contact as the mother is refusing but am I right in saying that he could pursue through court?

We have had some experience with court access but DH had PR and was few years ago so not sure if it has changed?

What is his best course of action - don't want to get his hoes up if not true

Thanks

He has been told incorrectly. He can go to court for a contact order. If he wants PR and the mother refuses he can get a parental responsibility order.

Agree with prh47bridge. Of course he can apply for defined contact and a PR order but it's generally best to try mediation first.
