Problems with private car park

Hi there

I live in block of flats and we are all homeowners. We have a private car park with numbered bays, no permits and we all share 1 visitors bay. We have no CCTV and the maintenance company won't do anything

Issue 1 - taxi belonging to resident has been parked on pavement leading up to car park blocking anyone walking
on there. It's also a nuisance driving past it. Has phone number on back.

Issue 2 - a car has been parked in the communal visitor bay for 5 days!

Really annoyed now seen as I have 2 cars and park one on the road Confused don't want to do something illegal.

You don't want to be charged with theft or wasting police time, and even if there's no CCTV, vandalism.

Regarding the taxi, parked inconsiderately by a resident, hassle the owner politely on a daily basis until it's moved.

With regard to car #2 it could be a visitor, (eg currently half term still in parts of the UK), it could have been delivered to the wrong address by a garage following a service, or it may have been dumped.

Is it taxed? If it's still there at the weekend, you could contact the police who can check if the car has been reported stolen. They can also check if it's either insured or has SORN (off the road status).

I used to be a taxi licensing officer at the local council & had a very similar complaint about parking.

While I couldn't 'do' anything I still sent a letter to the tune of 'you're being annoying with your parking, please stop' - might be worth a go if you want to avoid a face off?
