shareholder agreement

I am about to go into business with a colleague, the business is being set up as a Ltd company and we need a shareholder agreement. Just something basic, but I have been quoted £800 + vat.

This seems a lot to me, are there templates available or is this the going rate for such an agreement?
Thanks

that's probably not unreasonable. if they are properly drafted they are long complex documents and specific to the circumstances of the shareholders. a template wouldn't work but you could get other quotes?

You could probably get a cheaper quote but shareholder agreements are not standard. They will give both of you protection in all sorts of circumstances. Personally I wouldn't skimp on this kind of business basic.
