Where do I stand?

What is the position when h has a financial agreement in place over the marital home that I was not aware of? The house is in his name only, the financial agreement/loan is in his and third party names - mine is nowhere as I was unaware of the agreement. Now he is saying the house is joint and the debt is mine too - but nothing is in my name and I was unaware of the agreement:( any ideas?

It's his debt. It could be taken into consideration during a financial settlement when divorcing, but you are not legally liable for it.

yes, if you divorce you look at assets & debts & then divide the balance. Of course if he defaults on the debt you could lose the house you live in.
