Patient confidentiality

I currently 24 weeks pregnant and have just received a phone call from the antenatal department at my local hospital to say that half of my scan reports and notes have been found in another patients notes! I have no idea how they got there. Apparently there is going to be an investigation etc into how they got put in the other lady's file, but I'm a bit worried because every report has allmy personal details on it. From date of birth to address married and maiden name! Anyone else ever had this Happen?what happens now? I'm a bit uncomfortable with this person reading all about me!

Why would the other patient have read it? Patients usually have to put in a special request with the hospitals records department to access their notes. It's quite easy to accidentally misfile something and the fact that you have been notified about it makes me think that the hospital are aware of the misfiling problem and so are presumably putting measures in place to avoid it happening again.
Unless I've completely got the wrong end of the stick, I don't think you need to worry.

In my area you carry around your maternity notes with you ins red folder. My notes were in her red folder.

Why weren't they in your folder? Sorry if that's a daft question!

Because u hand them in at reception when u book in for your scan then the reports etc are put in when u go back to book your next one and then they give your notes back to you. I have all mine but apparently she had copies of them in hers that someone had put there.
