Pulled over this morning. Anyone know the penalty? 1st time offence, clean license, no other offence committed, clear breath test. The police said they no longer make the decision, the form they filled out gets sent somewhere for someone else to decide? He talked about fines of various amounts and points and courses but was vague.

The form is ticked "report for summons", sounds a bit scary?

My DP was caught by a speed camera doing 42 in a 30 zone.

He could pay a fine (£70 I think + 3 points) or attend a speed awareness course (£92 and no points). Course was 3 or 4 hours long. He did the course.

I got caught doing 42 in a 30. Got a choice between fine and speed awareness course. Don't worry.
