Dodgy landlord

Can anyone tell me the legalities of the following

Landlord is also leasing agent. He personally owns several properties through a 'paper company' that goes into administration. He then buys the properties back at a cut price through a different company.

It sounds very dodgy to me but nobody seems to be batting an eyelid, including the administrators.

Can't be right can it?

Morally it isn't right. However, there are ways just inside the law to do this it is often known as phoenixing.

Unbelievable! Thanks for answering, I'm absolutely shocked that it's not fraud though.

If he was going bankrupt it would be a different thing, the fact that the business is going into administration is the key. The administrators job is to either sell a going concern or the assets to pay the creditors.

And in the meantime he's been receiving inflated rent and not paying the mortgages on the various properties. Nice work if you can get it Wink
