my DP has been called for Jury Service. we got deferral first time on the ground of a new baby. now he has been called second time. Our DD1 starts reception far away from home and he was going to do school runs for her as I am full time at work. Also in summer he has started new work - new project which is setting up in September, so his absence will have a huge impact. the third reason is that hi Father has a disability and my DP taCan my DP ask at his work that his line manager writes supporting statement so that DP can be takes him to doctor's appoitments, cares for him. Can all of these be reasons for exscusal? His line manager can also write a supporting statement to show that it will have a huge impact on the new project at his new work? He is still on atrial/ probationary contract at his new work...Please help with ideas.

I don't think that those reasons are enough for deferral - caring got his father may be but as he is able to hold down a job rather than bring a full tune cater it probably won't wash. He would be expected to organise child care/ care for his father.

I once got excused as I was called the sane week as a huge once a year event was taking place at work and two of my colleagues had already booked leave. An ongoing project wouldn't wash unless it was literally the first day of the project starting.

If he has deferred once they will be super strict this time. I very much doubt he will get another deferral but he can try. I deferred once and tried to defer the second time and was refused.

what about childcare issues?

If you ask to be deferred, as I have for this Sept, how long until you get the next summons?

Letter, I don't think childcare issues allow you to be excused anymore, I couldn't see that written in the book, can yo ring them?

Once I was on jury service i cited childcare issues to get out of a case expected to last 4 months but I was made to do another case which lasted 3.5 weeks.

First, I feel it's everyone's civic duty to serve on a jury unless there's a genuine and truly overwhelming reason not to

Second, if he turns up in a suit and tie with polished shoes and carrying a briefcase in one hand and tucks a copy of The Daily Mail under his arm, he'll most likely be released. Job done Grin

You can defer the first time due to childcare problems.

It typically doesn't work the next time, it's refused. You are expected to find childcare for that period, regardless of your circumstances.

I doubt he has cause to defer for the reasons you've given. As has been said if there has been one and they are very strict for a second.

I also think people should serve on juries if called.
