Role changing on return from mat leave

I've returned part time but due back ft in a few weeks. Been suggested today that my role 'may' change. I feel its fairly inevitable. No change in status but will become more specialised and lose line management responsibility. Being positioned as playing to my strengths. Feel rather wobbly about it, but perhaps that's just my general uneasiness about leaving baby and a previous redundancy. Feel it could make me more dispensable in time and reduces my transferable skills. Is this ok?

I'm not a legal expert. But I am at the same stage as you and return to work on Monday. AFAIK, employers are required to give you a role upon your return but it doesn't have to be the same role as the one you left. So it sounds fair enough to me.

If, on the other hand, you feel they are pushing you into a position for a strategic reason (to get you to quit, to make it easier to make you redundant etc) and this is due to your mat leave, you may have a complaint.
