I have namechanged. A very close friend has just gone to the police as he was abused repeatedly as a child by a family member who is still very much the 'head' of the family. He was abused for several years repeatedly as were other boys. He called the police today and is waiting for them to call back. Can anyone give me a rough idea of what will happen next. The perpetrator lives abroad now but is here atm and due to fly home wednesday which is why he has called them today. He has admitted itShock he doesn't deny it at all and he says it was a religious thing Hmm Some of his family who are also religious agree with him and want to turn a blind eye which is why he went to the police. He is late 30s and tbh it has destroyed his life and relationships and his family still associating with the man has been the final straw. What happens now as we have no idea!

well, the police will interview the alleged victim & then see where to go from there.

Have you had an update now?

Oh & depending on where abroad the alleged perpertrator lives, will have some bearing on whether there will be a prosecution. Are you wondering whether his passport might be taken off him to stop him flying home?

It is a family situation where some members knew about it but did nothing and he is worried they will be in trouble too

I wouldn't think the other family members would be in trouble,no.
