hi,

getting divorced in Scotland but living in England.

could someone clear up some questions for me about the rights of Ex-Spouces?

a) until i re-marry, would my ex-wife have any 'next-of-kin' rights over me? so, for example, if i was to fall ill and not able to determine my own treatment, would my ex-wife have a role in deciding my treatment, or 'turning me off', organ donation, nature of funeral etc..?

b) assuming a 'clean break' divorce, again in Scotland, would my ex-wife have any rights to my estate in the event of my death?

any other 'nasties' lurking in the post-divorce cowpat that probably haven't occured to me but that may surprise me?

thanks in advance - as you can probably tell, its all very amicable...

You would need to get advice from a Scottish lawyer about this as the legal provisions may be different there to the English ones.
